Q. Why are my Cable Rates Increasing?

A. Our goal is to provide the best value to our customers on cable programming. Unfortunately, the rates we have to pay programmers, like ESPN, USA, CNN etc., as well as the local broadcast channels like ABC, NBC and Fox increase every year. We have not increased cable rates in over 4 years. The adjustment being made in April is simply an offset to the continuing increase in programming.

Q. How much is my bill increasing?

A. The Local Retransmission Fee is going from $9.50 to $13.50, a $4 increase. This is a complete pass through of the costs that the local broadcasters charge us to transmit their signals. In addition, the rate for basic Cable is increasing by $2.

Q. Will my cable TV bill go up every year?

A. As long as programming costs continue to escalate, we will have to pass through a portion of the costs to our customers.

Q. How can I save money on my cable bill?

A. There are several alternative ways you can receive video content including live TV through streaming services like Hulu, Sling and Philo. These are subscription services; however, they can be significantly less that traditional cable TV. You can learn all about these choices on our web site at www.sunset-fiber.com/streaming

Q. Why is my internet bill increasing?

A. Our Fiber-to-the-home network provides the fastest most reliable internet service in the area. Our Internet rates have remained the same since we first began offering internet. Over the years there have been increases in the cost of doing business that we have not passed through to the customer. In order to continue to provide the best possible Internet service we have to make some modest adjustments in our rates.

Q. Why is my Internet plan changing?

A. In order to provide the speeds needed to power multiple devices and provide the best experience for users, we also are discontinuing some of the lower speed plans. In conjunction with the rate adjustments, we are increasing the speeds available in our plans, both download and upload speeds.
